Question of SATA 3 Gb/s or SATA 6Gb/s

If I have a SATA II motherboard, should I just buy an SSD thats SATA II only or should I look towards the future and get one thats SATA III if I ever upgrade my computer down the line?

Second question, I havent bought an SSD since my Vertex 2 and the whole 25nm switch over outrage. How are the Vertex 3s compared to the Intel 510 or 320s?

Unless you get a top of the line SSD, then there really is no need for SATA 6Gb/s interface, unless you want to RAID up some SSDs, then you want the fastest interface available. However, since your board only support SATA 3Gb/s, if you find a SATA 6Gb/s on sale, then might as well get it. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry that much about it.

Haven't used any of those SSDs you mentioned, so, dunno.

Hm alright. Does anyone know if there were any other benefits with the Vertex 3 compared to the Vertex 2 besides speed?

The going price price for a Vertex 2 240gb is $300 right now compared to $400 for the 3.

May have a lot less problems with the "2".
New firmware seems ok for now on the "3" but it usually takes a few weeks for it to crap out.
I got so fed up with my vertex 3 i bought 2 Intel 320's and RAIDed them.
Just re-flashed the Vertex 3 to the new 2.15 firmware and put it into laptop. Took that Intel 320 out and added it to my RAID array.
The Vertex has been running about two weeks now but its on the 5th firmware upgrade since end of April. I hope Sandforce has finally got all the BUGS worked out by now.
Never had a problem with my Intel although they are on there second firmware upgrade.
