question of choosing vedio card(has to make decision by tomorrow)

Hi I am trying to build a new computer
sth about C2D E6400 with ASUS P5B which I have not total decide.
But I noticed that there is a sale on a local store that BFG 7600GS 256M for 90$ (AR 60$) and this sales end soon as they only have few cards available now.
I went the store that I intend to build the system at, they guy there suggest me to use Asus Radeon X1600Pro PCI-E 512MB(they sell it for $115)

Actually, I do not play vedio game too much, maybe only Need for Speed and Might and Magic. So, which one I should decide? or I should take something even cheaper to save the money for other stuff?
And I heard that ATI chips might not be okey for Linux which I might also run on this computer.

but since you did not state that, 7600GS is as good as a 6600GT abit better ... and those beat out a X1600

7600GT will cost over 200$. I don't think I will spend so much money on the vedio card as I do not play game too much.

most 7600GT I saw is over 200$ except

What is the difference of this one with others?

BTW , the earlier 7600 GS for 90$ is not BFG , it is 3dfuzion

160 is a far cry from 200 but since you dont game it really isnt needed

X1600 Pro is really rubbish, I would go for one of the low-mid range Nvidias any day.

If you want to go with the X1600, it is useless to get a 512 MB model. Get a 256 MB and save some money. But the 7600GS will perform better. A newer, X1650 Pro with DDR3 memory will perform still a bit better than the 7600GS, but a brick-and-mortar store won't have it yet and will try to get rid of the discontinued X1600 and soon-to-be-discontinued 7600GS (to be replaced with 7650GS very soon).

Personnally, I think it is worth waiting for the 7650GS, and this is what I am waiting for to upgrade my system's onboard graphics. The 7650GS will have a killer price/performance ratio (7600GT or better performance @ 7600GS price)
