'Lo all 🙂
I am planning on picking up two of the new high end nvidia cards when they come out next month and going sli for the first time. I haven't used an nv based mb since I had an a64 3500 back in the day. I have no interest in ddr3 so I am going to go with a 780i board and I am leaning towards the evga one. I was thinking of picking it up this weekend and swapping it out with my current board to get that out of the way for when the cards hit.
My problem is related to this known problem with the 780i boards talked about on evga's forums, http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=253891. I do a lot of gaming on my rig but also use it to watch movies in the bedroom now and then as I have a 30" monitor. So video playback needs to work and not give me errors.
Does anyone have any experience with this board and this error, is it universal to all the boards or a luck of the draw sort of thing ? The hardware I will be putting in the system is as follows:
I'm using a p35c-ds3r mb atm and plan to run the same OC settings on the 780i which would be a FSB of 420 with an 8x multiplier on my q6600 for a 3.44Ghz OC and the ram at 1:1 running at 840mhz. This is the hardware I will be putting with the 780i board:
PCP&C 750 Quad power supply
4x1GB Crucial Ballistix at 840mhz 4-4-4-12
Q6600 at 3.44Ghz 8x420
2x500GB Seagate sata2 HDs
my current vid card 8800gtx
sb x-fi xtremegamer card
when the new nv cards hit I will want to run two of them in sli so I will be dropping the sound card due to space issues and using onboard.
I'd really appreciate any input and this problem with these boards and ways if possible to avoid/fix it.
Thanks in advance.
