question: merge two hard drives into one

I have two 80gb hard drives. I want to make 15gb partition for the operating system (winxp). And make the rest of the space another partition. Currently, I have the C Drive (the winxp partition) and two extended partitions D Drive and E Drive partitions.

So, is there a way to merge these D and E partitions into one so I only have a C Drive (winxp) and D Drive (the merged partition)? (without using PartitionMagic)

And I dont know if this makes a difference, but the hard drives are identical Seagates.

i dunno but i would like to do that also. I think you need some kind of RAID setup or allay.

Either RAID (make the entire 160GB array then seperate into partitions sizes of your choice) or use Windows XP to create a Dynamic Disk set. This will allow the second hard drive and the remaining partition space on the fist be spanned and recognized as one large volume. (I am pretty sure that will work. Check the Microsoft Knowledge Base to be sure)
