Hi all,

I bought LG227WTG for gaming purposes for my old PC as secondary computer. Somehow when i view black page in windows or websites, the monitor created this high pitched noise. It annoys me and give me headache. Since i am wearing headset 80% of the time, it helps abit with the noise.

What can cause this? I've uninstalled my video gfx driver and install the new one.

My spec:

AMD 3200 (old 754 core)
6800gt AGP video card
SB Audigy 2
250 gb HD
600W Thermaltake Power Supply
LG227WTG
1.5 GB DDR2 RAM

Anyone has any problem with their monitor creating high pitch noise when viewing black images or pages? Should i return the monitor and get a new one?

Edit: the monitor has no dead pixel and very less to none backlight bleeding.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Some LCD's do experience these types of issues. I would return it as mine does not do that at all. But I do know exactly what you are talking about. I think it is the power converter that causes it. I, too, have found that it happens only in certain scenarios and potentially certain resolutions. I can tell you one thing though, it is VERY anoying when it happens so if you have to hear that while doing your normal tasks, then I'd see an RMA, or an exchange.

Edit ** To clarify, I have experienced this with OTHER LCD monitors, not my current one. I know how frustrating it is... RMA or Exchange.

Mine does this too but only when it's changing resolutions (which usually happens on a black screen, e.g. during boot).

You might want to play with brightness settings to see if lowering or raising brightness changes the tone of the sound first. Sometimes the power inverter causes the noise and the nature or volume can be changed by changing brightness.

I'll assume you've used this exact PC with other monitors and not experienced the noise? nVidia and ATI cards from previous generations are sometimes notorious for coil whine.
