Question: Is this considered a negative eval?

Got myself into an interesting predicament lately. I was on another forum dealing with some guy there and he was selling a Playstation 2 bundle. Anyhow his price was rather high, but I was slightly interested in the deal because of what he had to offer. Anyhow, we sort of came into an agreement of the price, however there was no confirmation as to when or where I could send a payment. I wanted to make sure what I was buying was worth it and if he was a reliable source. Now, he didn't have any references and he seemed pretty new to trading. We then didn't talk for about a day since I had work and overtime. I then did some additional research(@work) and found that the price of the bundle was slightly overpriced and I could have gotten a better deal elsewhere. I came back tonight, had a casual talk with him and wanted to pull out of the deal. The guy flipped after I broke the news that I wasn't so interested anymore, and instantly ignored all my IMs.

To my surprise he then turned around at the same time and jumped on to Heatware and gave me a negative eval!? I just went to look at some other peoples refs and to check on some evals and found this horror happening to my once flawless heat. This guy doesn't have any evaluations at all with Heatware. Is this a fair eval? I somehow feel cheated cuz I didn't purposely rip him off nor did I cause him to lose any money. He might have lost time, but it takes time to sell on forums to find the appropriate trader. Am I right?

Now, if I knew he would do something like that I would have honored the deal, through blackmale I guess. Sigh.

If no deal was made, no deal was made. I forget their handle but there's a user or two here who can help you remove your eval.

as long as nothing was actually sent or paid for, i don't see this as being fair. plently of people pull out of deals all the time. sure it pisses people off, but you have the right to change your mind if you haven't paid yet. on ebay, you can't leave a eval unless there was an actual transaction(a winning bid). you should notify heat about getting it removed.

Thanks Arcenite, thats reassuring. 🙂

It took years to keep my heat spotless and somehow ruined very unexpectedly. I guess that's the problem with dealing with newbie traders.

Send Kobe over there? OJ, maybe?

so why'd you leave him heat if you have the belief that nothing traded = no heat?

desperation I guess? I have no clue. I think I'll talk to someone to remove it as well.

Well, I want him to actually see my comments and that he is wrong(no matter how upset he is) for leaving a eval when there is no trade. Yes, ironic and doesn't make sense.

Who should I talk to remove those unnecessary evals?

Troll Hunters

He's not exactly a troll, but one of them should be able to help you. Looks like minendo is a troll hunter, he's on the forum quite a bit.

At the very worst, you can post a response to his eval. Everyone who trades with you in the future is going to read the negative eval instead of all of the positives, so you want to have future traders hear your side of the story as well.

I contacted both Minendo and Heat23. Minendo has replied and said that he'll contact heatware to remove, but nothing has happened yet. Heat has not replied.
