Judging by the titles of books and websites when you search for nappy, I get the impression that black people don't think of their nappy hair as a positive thing, but they're proud of it anyway because it is one of the things that distinguishes them from other people. It is difficult to work with, but on the other hand you can do cool things with it that you couldn't do with a white person's hair. (i.e. the afro... I guess that's not so cool anymore though )

Perhaps "good" was a bad word to use. The point I was trying to make though is that it's stupid to ignore the fact that when you're talking about "nappy-haired" people, you're talking about black people.
