Question: How to organize your extra cables, adapters, etc.

If you like me you've ,through years of building and upgrading PCs for yorself and friends, accumulated countless cables , adapters, etc.

Presently, I have them in large ziplock bags and put them in a giant plastic bin. While this prevents the otherwise inevitable tangled spaghetti monster* of wires, it is far from perfect.

If you have experience in managing such a problem I would love to hear the methods you've used.

Thanks.

* All respects to our Lord and Saviour, the Giant Spaghetti Monster.

6.6 Gallon Storage Box or Plastic Sweater / Shoe Box - 18.5 Quart. I have a bunch of these to store my old books, magazines, clothes, computer parts. I got them at Costco.

Trash can. Really. I mean, once I have 3 or 4 power cables, there's really no point to keeping more. 2 or 3 component cables? The rest get tossed. Pigtails and HDD cables and etc.?? Toss 'em. That way the numbers stay more manageable. From that point, longer cables I just keep bundled up in twist-ties or something; smaller stuff just sits in a box.

I have one of those plastic, roller, drawer sets for all of my extra computer cables and adapters. I just use twist ties to keep them from tangling and organize them in ziplock bags.
