Is there a big difference? This is for a dell laptop. Will a Pentium III make a noticeable difference? Also, will choosing a Celeron chip prolong battery usage? Thanks.

The interanl bus speed makes a big performance difference. You would be talking 66mhz for the Celeron vs. 100mhz for the P3.

just what 4824guy said, clock speed isn't the only factor that determines performance, bus and core speeds, along with the ammount of ram and other factors. A P4 1.5 GHZ isn't much without a system to put it in.

mobile Celeron's have been clocked at 100fsb (unlike the desktop counterparts) for some time now. So the only difference you'll see is 100mhz worth and half the L2 cache. Some difference, but not a whole lot.

depends on what you'll be doing on that laptop as to whether or not you'll notice a difference!
