A combination of both.

My uncle recently likes to experiment with music modifying/making programs on his laptop, but it is not as if he has no background in music. He plays a variety of instruments, and has a Masters in some music teaching degree. He used to teach at NOCCA, a school in New Orleans, but he basically layed off after Katrina
