hi

i was trying to build a system today. after i installed the cpu, motherboard, psu, graphic card and ram, i tried to boot the system to see if it worked. and guess what it's not posting. i then tried different slots for ram, reinstalled cpu and its fan and now weird thing happens: the motherboard turns itself on whenever i switch to power on. (notice! i did not HIT the power switch)

this is the system:
asus A8N SLI Deluxe
3500+ winchester
zelman 7700cu
msi 6600gt
thermaltake 420W PSU

Try flipping the 2-pin power header. The little cable that goes from the power button to the motherboard.

not surprisingly, I had that very issue when I first built my system 2yrs ago. It's kinda hard to tell on some mobos which goes where. Also, you could just disconnect the ATX power switch cable and short the pins with a screwdriver to see if it springs to life.

thanks for the replies :)

i'm not really sure what you mean though cryogenic

ok here's what i did: i took out the bios memory and put it back and now the system won't boot when power supplies is switched to on.
great, however the system's still not posting. Then..i took the cpu out and try to start the system to see if the speaker produce any sound...and it didn't

what does this imply? motherboard's super dead?
:'(

thanks
