Police said I ran a stop sign, which is somewhat true so yeah im not gonna say I didn't do it..

but the question is can i get this ticket avoided since he spelled my last name wrong, and got the color of my car wrong? (i got a civic thats in sandpearl color that "appears" silver sometimes)

anyone got a link to the PA system so i can check out the laws to see my fine besides the ticket?

im a broke college student who can't really afford to pay $115.50

EDIT: Flamesuit on

more questions at the bottom

Have you considered a career in politics?

Unless you're willing to lie in court, just pay the ticket or find out is there's deferred adjudication in your area.

No, you can't beat the ticket because of those minor errors. The car color is irrelevant because if the officer made the mistake, and you say it is common for people to mistake your car for silver, then that's a moot point. You can't reasonably expect an officer to know that your car is some gay shade of pearl something or other. They usually use basic color descriptions anyway. Further, as long as your vehicle make/model match up to what's registered with your license plate, color is again irrelevant.

Second, so what if he spelled your name wrong. Mistakes happen. Is it a gross misspelling of your last name that could easily confuse you with someone else (ie. - Garcia vs. Garciaparra)? If it's an "e" where there should be an "a" or something trivial like that, again, not gonna get it thrown out.

Why can't you pay $115? You have a computer...

But anyway, don't plead guilty to the ticket right away--but it doesn't seem like you have much of a case. The cost of $115 won't be as bad as what your insurance will be if you are slapped with a guilty verdict, especially since you seem to be a young driver.

By pleading not guilty you'll probably meet with the DA or talk to the judge or cop about it. Do whatever it takes to get 0 points on your license...and pay as little as possible. The court has their own way of determining whether people can pay or not.

If the judge is having a good day you may not be found guilty for anything, but you'll still have to pay the court cost and ticket.

But chances are, you will get points. And you'll still pay the $115. How much? Talk to your local insurance agent.

Are you related to Luvya by chance?

You might be able to request deferred adjudication, or whatever they call it in your jurisdiction. Keep your record clean for X months, ticket is dismissed, and you only pay court costs. Ask the judge.

Errors on the ticket don't matter, as long as he got your license plate and license number correct.

First ticket means traffic school. Take that option when the judge offers it and consider yourself lucky.

Did you get a court date? Out here in california you get to go to court, and protest, or whatever. I got a nice judge the last time I got a ticket, pleaded no contest, then went to pay my fine to the cashier. The cashiers here are a weatlth of knowledge. The local traffic court cashier knew the fine, the points, how to sign up for traffic school, what options were available, and any other question I had or anyone else that got helped before me had. You could always give that a try.

I went to court for a ticket- the officer put the wrong date (one day behind of the ticket) on his sworn statement- judge saw it and threw it out.
Wrong last name MIGHT do the same, probably not though

Depends on each state, but this is usually the best option.

Btw, for name it shouldn't get tossed. Your DL #, and probably social security # is on the ticket as well which also identifies you. Now if both were messed up, then yes, it depends on the judge. And for color it definitely wont get tossed. The system doesn't recognize "sandpearl".

Trust me, if color could get you out of a traffic ticket, ticketassassin would be advising everyone to go buy some Krylon and respray their car.

Then STOP! :p People think they save so much time when they speed, run signs, don't follow rules, etc. It will all eventually catch up with you at some time or another and I will be the one who drives by you laughing his ass off when you're pulled over because you can't follow directions. You maybe saved what, 2 seconds by running the sign? Is 2 seconds of your time worth dishing out $115.50? :p Unless you make several hundred bucks an hour, I doubt it is. ;)

Pay it and get the hell on with your life.

Lucky you. I got pulled over 2 weeks ago for supposedly passing a stop sign, but I swear to god I stopped. Anyhow, I'm short 90.00 bucks cuz I don't feel like wasting time in Court since Time=Money.
