does getting a principal endorsement increase you salary even if you dont get hired as a principal?

here is a convo i just had with a friend. Been teaching elem for 10 years, got hired to teach in another school district last year and got fired last nov. now she is living off the remining money from her contract which was around 10K. still has not found a job. if she didnt get that money she would be dirt broke. she is not in the least Principal material, she absoutly does not have the presence for it.

HER: Well, I only have to get through to May then I can get a student loan for the summer. I am going to pursue the prinicpals endorsement and a reading specialist endorsement

ME: so you are going to get a loan, go further in debt and live off the loan? sounds like a solid plan to me

HER: Well, the thing is this, by getting those endorsements my salary will double on any job I get.

ME: for what job

Her: reading specialist or principal

HER: And going throught the jobs available, principals are in high demand.

ME: not this again

HER: what?

ME: I know you don't think I am principal material, but I have experience. I took a non existant head start center and built it to where it had a waiting list a mile long.

HER: I hired, fired, wrote grants, provided trainings, and disciplined staff and students as well. I did a damn good job of it too,.

HER: I know you don't want to hear it, so we won't talk about it. I guess I could always change my career to computers, then I could triple what I was making. LOL"
