Question for Yellobeard - CMT6GX3M3A2000C8 vs. CMG6GX3M3A2000C8

What's the difference between these two memory kits other than just a slightly tweaked timing?

The "T" version is the newer spreader with the connector for the AIRFLOW PRO. Underneath, it's the same memory.

Hey Yellowbeard,

Thanks for the information. Can you also tell us which ICs are being used in these new "T" version kits? I've heard the new "T" versions are using Elpida BBSE ICs (hence the WAY cheaper cost + availability). So is that what accounts for the slight difference in timing?

It's impossible to say without knowing the revision number, see HERE.

If I had to guess, most are going to be made with the PSC ICs due to the scarcity of anything fast from Elpida.

As an update, I tested it out and it does indeed perform at the rated speed - 2000 Mhz at 8-9-8-24, and the X.M.B. actually worked on my motherboard without a hitch, something that seriously surprised me (in the past, features like EPP RAM etc. always ended up not working right for me, causing BSOD's etc., but this one just worked right off the bat). Also I was worried about the cooler not working on the MSI Big Bang Xpower since the RAM slots didn't have latches on both sides but it ended up working fine.

The fan with this kit is a little bit on the loud side though; BIOS showed it as being close to 3800 RPM, so the little fan on that sucker drowned out the rest of my case haha. 😀 I set the speed to 50% fan speed which definitely cut down on the noise factor, so all is well in that regard. So far very happy with this kit.
