Is it harmful to hard drives if you put them through an x-ray machine like the ones they have at airports? I'm thinking of taking out my hard drive and taking it with me on my flight.
 
Doubt it. Laptops go through x-ray machines all the time. They may be frightened / confused by the black box though.
