hello there
I have a question concerning my SCSI matshita cw-7503 CD-R 8 X 20 drive.
I have a PII 450 running full version of windows 98 and EZ CD creator deluxe
4. I have flashed the BIOS on my tekram SCSI card to the newest version. I
have no conflicts to my knowledge with any of the drives. For some reason
only known to GOD himself when I try to burn a disk of any sort....Audio or
DATA the drive will go through its normal routine and say that it has
created a disk successfully and then when I try to view the disk or play it
there is nothing apparently on the disk or it all together locks up the
computer. I have tried to repair this problem by formating the hard drive
and starting fresh thinking it was a software corruption somewhere along the
line and it did work tempararly and then reverted back to the problem I am
writing about. I have had this drive fora year and no problems what so
ever, so I don't know what could be wrong, I have done all the error
checking through windows and norton 2000, I have the latest anti virus
definitions through norton as well. I have had some success in going into
control panel....deleting both of my cd rom drives and the SCSI card....then
letting them get found again by windows and for some reason it will work for
one or two or as many as I try that session in windows then when I reboot
as I did today it come up as a coaster.
this may sound crazy because in no way is there a conflict anywhere that I
can find. i don't know what else to set or look at. there is one other
thing that I can't seem to repair and don't know if that could be the
problem.....in control panel under system there is one other thing....under
system devices....and then proccessor support there is a device loader by
the name of ntkern.vxd that isn't loaded and when I try to update the driver
it doesn't take, i don't know but that is the only thing I can come up with
that still might be the problem.
since the drive works when it wants to I don't think that it is broke, but
it very well could be. it takes information from the drive and I can use it
no problem in any other situation. just when I try to burn a disk it fails,
so I think that it is in conflict somewhere because lately when i have been
experimenting it just hangs at the beginning and at the end and it never did
that before. any info you could give would be great....I have visited this
site for drivers but it says that it is supported by the OS and I really
didn't see anything for the matshita CD-R CW-7503. thanks for reading this
and if there is anything at all that you can think of I would appreciate it.
even if there isn't anything could you please mail me back and tell me so I
can get a new CD-R.

Can you see the session from within ezcd? Put the disk in the cdr and launch ezcd and from the pull down menus go to the disk info. The session should show up if it indeed burned anything. If it shows a seesion highlight it and see if you can close the session again (may be grayed out). I used to have a similar problem only mine would error out on the session closing and I would have to close it manually in order to see the data. Does the disk look like it burned anything or not?

at times it does look as if something has been written to it, I will basically try to back up a full disc of say Mp3's and there will be probably 100 tracks of so on there. It will burn fine so it says, and then when I put it in the other drive to be read it locks up or shows on huge track that doesn't play or allow me to view it. how do you go about what you are saying view the session, when would I be able to view that, when I am burning an audio CD or also with a data CD ??? does it say if the CD had been closed or not ??? is there a certain setting in EZCD creator that would work. I don't know if this would help but i have done a little experiment

when i delete the SCSI card out and the two drives one a DVD drive and the CD-R and let windows re-find them the damn thing works, and then if I shut down and re-boot I have the same problem, back to square one. I had someone say about the .INF files but there are like 1000 and I wouldn't evene know what one was wrong or causing conflict. I don't konw i am close to getting another burner that is stricly IDE any suggestions ???
