Question for when you sneeze.

Where exactly does the phrase "Gesunheit" originate? What exactly does it mean??
its german with the general mean of "good health wishes to you" I believe.

edit: just looked it up. "gesundheit" = "health"

gesundheit - yea its german.

I actually for some reason don't like anything being said after I sneeze. I find it kind of awkward for some reason. It's like taking a crap and someone saying a sort of catch phrase or something. I dunno, just kinda stupid IMO.

I'll digress once again.... am i invisible?

I answered the question in the first reply...yet people are still discussing the matter. I don't get it.

i don't have the power to order God to bless you, that is up to him (or not) , so i stay out of it (i don't say anything when someone sneezes)

Somehow I believe it all stems back from a saying that everytime you sneezed, you were ejecting the little devils inside you..thus...bless you for doing so.

I think its the opposite, when you sneeze your soul is exposed and if you aren't blessed ASAP you may be posessed or some sh|t. I have a lot of friends that don't say anything because they think its about a reatarded as throwing salt over your shoulder if you spill some.

Your heart stops during a sneeze, so it is a well-wishing thing.

I still prefer the suggestion from Seinfeld: "You're so good looking!"
