I am working on a web page that has a background image (a .jpg file), 6 .gif files, and one .jpg file that is a regular image.

The background image is 25KB, the .gifs are all between 35 and 44KB in size, the .jpg image is 47KB.

When using IE 5, invairably the .jpg image never fully loads. Sometimes the background .jpg will not fully load. Netscape 4.7 huffs and puffs and loads the whole page. My net connection is a 56K modem so I may not have the best testbed in the world for this, but I am curious as to why IE will not load all of the last image and Netscape will.

Any thoughts, insights, recommendations, or flames will, as always, be appreciated!

Post the URL and we can see for ourselves..perhaps your web browser needs the cache cleaned up.. I am on cable so I can tell perhaps more.

here

I blew away my cache on IE when I first detected the problem...excuse me, the ISSUE. I have the "check for newer versions of stored pages" set for "Every visit to the page". I am under the impression that this forces the browser to load the whole shooting match regardless of what it has cached?

Thanks for the assist!

OK, fixing to go to bed... I cleared my cache and did a load of your page..took 10 seconds for first time load...considering an average of 7-10x what an average 56k modem would do..your page should load for you in 70 to 100 seconds first time..then of course caching would make that time shorter. I have my browser check for new page automatically. hope this helps
