Question for those with dual fan Enermax PSUs

I just bought a "whisper quiet" Enermax 365-Ve (FC).
Maybe it's whisper quiet, but who isn't annoyed by whispers?
As it turns out I am. I thought it was way too loud. I don't really
have any heat problems in my case so I opened up my PSU to unplug the
inside fan. It turns out it was making all the noise. Not really bad
stuff, just pushing a lot of air.

What I found interesting was that there are two places to plug fans
in on the inside of the PSU. Is that because on the non FC models
both fans are plugged in on the inside? If so, are the two connectors
different? Before unplugging the 92mm fan completely, I tried it in
the other slot and it seemed to run at a different speed. Perhaps
it is temp controlled. I was just wondering if any of you smart guys
knew.

For me the important thing is that my computer no longer sounds like a
helicopter. And with just three whisper quiet 80mm fans pushing air, my
MB temp manages to hover around 31. Not too shabby.

Wow, I always thought that 2nd fan was a burdon too. "whisper" my ass I thought. I thought it was hard soldered into the psu though, thanks for the tip. :) haha.. probably raise my temps a little but it's not so loud anymore.

I too am curious about the 2nd connection in ther psu, anyone?

Haven't fussed with the FC models, but with my eg351p-ve's, the two fan headers are in parallel, the voltage on both is equal but varies with temperature. Switching the fans on the headers makes no difference.

If the internal 92mm fan is loud, then the temp control circuit is probably haywire, running the fan at max rpm. Mine are near silent in normal operation.

The 'fan control' only seems to effect the exhaust/80mm fan.. i don't think it applies to the 92mm.

That's my sense of it too. My case is always around 31C. It shouldn't
trigger full speed. I have an Enermax temperature controlled fan that
only spins at about 1800. The 80mm fan in the psu is only at 2500.

Hhmmm.. I would hope that the FC models actually have two temp control circuits- their usual circuitry for the two internal fan headers, and an additional sensor/circuit for the rear fan. Standard models have a thermistor ty-rapped to a toroidal choke coil using two yellow leads that come off the board right next to the fan headers.

I wouldn't use sleep mode without the 92mm fan running, might get a little too warm....

I also justed opened up my PSU and found the exact same thing. I tried the 90mm fan in the other connector and I didn't notice any difference. Who ever said that these PSU were whisper quiet must be deaf. I also unplugged my 90mm and replaced the 80mm with a Panaflo. My case is actually cooler and quieter. Go figure.
