When ever I run SETI and try to play music or games I get horrid static and clipping sounds. But when I turn SETI off everything's fine. I have this problem weather I'm overclocking or not.

If you have a similar setup to mine do you have this same problem? If so do you know how to fix it? Thanks. :)

P.S. I bought brand new speakers recently and tested them on two other computers and they're fine.

I've got the most recent drivers for the SB Live and the 1004a BIOS. No help. :(

You system is pretty similar to mind except for OS. I don't know if SETI is any different from RC5 but I have no problem when cracking RC5 and listening to MP3 at the same time. Have you assign IRQ's in BIOS yet? Just assign IRQ 5 to whichever slot the SBLIVE sits in.

I can crack RC5 and have music playing without any problems as well. I've tried re-assigning IRQs but it hasn't had an effect.

I think this is just some stupid software/hardware conflict than no one anticipated.

This problem has been happening on more than one occasion, but sadly I don`t know of any guaranteed fix. :(

Try using the latest BIOS and drivers, maybe give SETI 3.0 a try. If your using WinAMP try changing (under Options->Preferences->Output) it from Wave out plugin to Direct Sound Plugin. That´s all I can think of for now, I`m sorry i couldn`t help you more...
