Question for those with 21 inchers (monitors)

I don't know if this is a common issue, or just how-it-is.

I just got a Dell 21" Trinitron monitor. My old monitor was a 17" Trini. Color and resolution look great. It's pretty much perfect except for one thing. Closing a windowed app (like IE, Outlook, Napster, etc..) is slow. Not real bad, but if full-screened, it may take a couple seconds to close.

Opening is normal, but the slow closing seems to indicate a lack of resources somewhere, right? Just trying to figure out if this is a setting, a lack of something, or just plain how-it-is with large monitors.

See my rig below for the hardware I'm running.

interesting.. I don't believe the monitor itself can contribute to the problem. I'm guessing you're probably running at a much higher resolution now which can slow things down - more pixels to manipulate. However, even at 1600x1200 I don't notice any kind of window lag... Looking at your rig, doesn't look like it's a memory or video card performance issue (would of been my first guess). Do you have something always running in the background taxing the cpu? Or having to redraw parts of a big desktop wallpaper image can slow things down too...

My 21' does not do that at all even when it was slower than your current system.

Something has to be taking up system resources esp. memory...
Check to see if theres a loose thread or maybe just reboot?

I'm puzzled, i would have said it was to do with little memory on your card at a high resolution. another Radeon problem, methinks. what resolution is it at? what's it like at a lower one?

when I minimse/close a program to reveal the desktop, the computer seems to scan it line by line down the screen, is that what you are talking about?

Another ridiculous assumption by a man who's NEVER used a Radeon so has no clue about Radeon's problems or lack thereof, on a sad lonely quest for what purpose sane people can only shake their heads and feel pity. You said you were going to give it a rest remember? Until you've used one you have NO opinion Bickle.

Taz, you need advice. I see you are trying to victimize me and I know your type. you look to me like the nasty type I have seen before on the internet that makes the internet an unpleasant place to be. I have said before that I have seen other people's ATi cards. wow!- I actually have friends or acquaintances? that thought didn't pass through your mind, did it Taz? it probably wouldn't because I guess you don't have them. you look like the kind of sad obsessive who takes himself far too seriously, and will try to tear down anyone who holds opposing views, with lies, spite and misinformation if need be. I wouldn't put it past you to prowl forums with a plethora of nicknames all day long. do you have a job? I see you have some kind of empty inadequacy in you, and I bet you hate the "gurus". you don't make a guru, and you're unable to enjoy the ridiculous or make fun either. I know when I'm being silly, but you take your sad and rabid self seriously

As has been pointed out Trav I dispense good advice and help for Radeon owners. The ONLY time I am drawn to defend the Radeon is when people like you, thankfully rare, who have never owned the card go off half cocked on a strangely obsessive mission which is clearly inexplicable. I am not anti nVidia as I still own a GTS nor am I rabid in my fervor for the Radeon, I ONLY defend it from misconceptions and falsehoods spouted from someone like you who has no knowledge of the card. As for you having friends that's far too easy to mock so let's let that slide shall we? As for prowling forums this is basically the only one I go to and you better get used to it because I'm lucky enough to have a job that pays six figures and allows me to surf and have a lot of freedom. Now I could insert a personal attack on you here like you did to me but I will not be drawn into that. Not being a troll or used to fighting I'm sure you could keep a flamewar going far longer than I could. 😉.
Now I really don't see what your misguided mission's intent is as again, you don't own the card, even your drivers' poll blew up in your face, now if you were to buy the card I'd be the first person to offer any help you may need as many people can attest to here. UNTIL you have at least tried it in your rig I don't see what you have to gain with this little campaign you're on. It's really a sign of someone with a little too much time on their hands and not a particularly healthy focus for your life.
This is certainly not an attempt to malign your credibility, rather think of it as some politely constructive criticism to help you out. Maybe you just needed things pointed out to you in a calm rational manner.
Much good luck to you.

Ok, take away my computer operator's permit. I have a picture of a painting that is completely red. Just red. I forgot it was set as my wallpaper. I assumed my desktop color was just red. Thus, the wallpaper was the culprit, as many of you suggested.

😱
Thanks for the help. Oh, I was running at 1280x1024.
