Question for those who use or are thinking of using solar power

I am thinking of using solar panels to generate electricity ( to power a well pump) I was wondering if anyone knows of the best place to purchase solar panels. I am looking for the best price/watt.

I looked in to it a little while ago.

Just use google, there are sites that match you up with dealers in your area.

But I think you may find that solar panels are unsuitable for your need (unless yuo get batteries etc). When the well pump kicks in it requires a pretty hefty initial charge.

i bought a 50 watt panel (that maxes out at 35 watts in San Diego sun,
with a resistive load) a few years ago. it was $222, from Arizona Solar.

one place to look is surplus electronics houses. if you do a search on
AT for "Alltronics", you'll find a thread that lists them. once i was at the
place called Gateway & they had whole stack of panels.

There are forums that talk about solar. Try to find one of them and ask. I use to have a couple good ones saved but that was a while back.

When I looked into it, it was cost prohibitive. You need a storage tank to store the water and a pool pump to get it to the house. Solar well pumps aren't all that, yet.
