I though The Darkness was a pretty damn good game IMO.
Really? I found it somewhere between laughably bad and just plain bad. The story/characters are horrible caricatures. The main characters VA sounds like someone doing a really bad steven segal impression. The interaction with NPC's is just plain broken. You have the ability to talk to people, but nobody says anything interesting at all besides variations of the same greetings. You can walk around with weapons drawn or goddamned demon tentacles and most people have zero reaction at all.. I'd forgive this if all the stuff was supposed to be unseen, but there are a few people who react enough to indicate that your darkness power IS visible to others.. most people just don't care i guess (?!)

Then theres some crazy shit with nazi's that comes out of fucking NOWHERE! The story is all over the place and none of it really makes any sense.
The actual game mechanics(shooting out lights and moving from dark place to dark place to gain energy) seemed fun in the demo, but I felt that the full game never really did anything worthwhile with them. It all got really old really fast and the campy, cliche, mobster/horror-flick story did nothing to keep my interest.
Played it as a gamefly rental and I STILL felt like I got ripped off.
