Question for those of you with a 6800(Standard) and Doom 3

So, I had a 9800 pro and sold it with some ram and got enough for a 6800 standard. I wanted a GT but couldnt find one in stock, so I finally just ordered an evga standard. My best buys dont have GT's and I haveno frys, also my compusa's have none.

I am ok with this, because in 2 months I will use their step up program and get either a GT ot an Ultra, when they are more availible, and not quite so high in price.

My question then is this:

I right now have a 64MB radeon 7500 as an interim card.

I want to have a good install without any old driver conflicts etc. I planned on using driver cleaner and following all of their directions.

Is this sufficient to get me clean and ready for my 6800?

My second question is:

Will I be able to run most games with high settings at 1024x768? maybe up to 1280 but not likely. I don't care for really hi-res gaming.

According to the doom 3 guide it looks like I will be fine. I will be happy if I get performance that is somewhat better than my old 9800 pro, because that did everything for me well.

Sure, I can see all of the benchmarks, I just want to know the experiences of 6800 STANDARD owners here.

Thanks!

I have the eVGA standard and have been playing around with it for the last few weeks (rig is in the sig) I had no driver conflicts (it replaced a ti4200 however) I did use Driver Cleaner3, and installed each of the 3 drivers posted at eVGA as the were released. It seems like a solid card, with no outstanding issues. It has weakness in higher resolutions and high levels of AA/AF in newer games, but performs damn good for a 128MB DDR card. I still may keep it rather than stepping up to the GT myself.

Incredible card, doom 3 and farcry multiplayer play very smoothly at 1280 and 1024 respectively.
