All that would do is raise the mortality rate due to partitioning. :QOriginally posted by: NL5
Do you think divorce should be outlawed as well. It destroys familys. If you got married in a church, you took an oath to God, till death do you part. Seems to me we should outlaw it like the good old days.
Nah, it will just make people think twice before saying I do.Originally posted by: Harvey

the old testiment has laws about how to perform a divorce, if it were wrong, why would they have a method on how to get one?
Why should what a mythical entity likes or doesn't like matter to us ?Originally posted by: TravisT
God doesn't like divorce, but sometimes it is needed. I think marriage is a sacred thing and if possible, every effort should be taken to make it work. We all make mistakes though, and homosexuality is one of the more wide spread ones in today's society.

Okay, now calm down and read very carefully.
No, divorce should not be against the law. Ending a marriage through divorce is the SAME as dissolving a partnership. Only the wording is different.
In the same manner, conservatives ONLY want to preserve the WORD marriage as being a union between a man and a woman.
They have no problem with legal partnerships between gays, with all of the legal rights of marriage. JUST A DIFFERENT WORD TO DESCRIBE IT!
Why? Because they don't want to mainstream an alternative lifestyle. Call gay unions whatever you want, we're just saying reserve the WORD marriage for male/female partnerships.
Gays wanting to have the word "marriage" is just a poke at traditional values, it makes a joke of the rest of society. It has nothing to do with gay rights because Bush has already said he is for legal partnerships with all of the rights of marriage.
I strongly believe gay rights should be protected and they should have all of the rights of non gays.
And I also believe they can come up with another word if they don't like the phrase legal partnerships.
Why do we have to change the definition of a word? I don't get it.
BTW, I had a 2 gay roommates during my 4 years in college and we were great friends. I respect anyone's choice of lifestyle as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

I would agree with Hulk, but most that oppose gay marriage oppose gay civil unions and giving gays any benefits whatsoever.
