I recently finished setting up my home theater with a HTPC. When I went to plug the TV coax cable into the Happauge 250 on my HTPC the subwoofer started to buzz.

The chain goes as follows;
- coax into HTPC
-- DVI from HTPC to Infocus 4805
--- component from 4805 to Pioneer VSX-D811s
---- RCA composite from Pioneer VSX-D811s to Wharfedale Powercube 10 subwoofer.

I unplugged the coax cable and the buzzing stopped altogether, so at this point I figure that the line is pretty dirty and noisy. Would a line filter fix the buzzing noise? If so which ones should I buy? Do they have ones that are bundled with surge protectors? Are those not recommended?

If not line noise, what could it be?

Thanks guys.

I also should mention that I have an Xbox connected to the receiver via Component

Google "ground loop hum" and see if that's what you have. Is everything plugged into the same surge protector?

no, they are plugged into three different surge protectors. The HTPC , projector, and receiver are on different ones. The sub and receiver are on the same.

so a ground loop isolator attached to my sub may do the trick?

Can you try plugging them into the same outlet to see if it solves your problem?

Ground Loop was the first thing that popped into my head too.

I'll try pluggin them into one surge to see if that fixes the problem. I'll do it when I get home tonight. Maybe I'll pick up an isolator at Radio Shack before I go home.
