question for the case modders

I just bought the Antec P160WF case from newegg and I should be getting it by thursday. I wanted to "dremel" out the rear and front fan grills. The problem is, I'm not ordering the motherboard/cpu/memory for this particular pc till week after next. And I believe I won't be able to exchange the case if i cut out the fan grill.
So my question is, is there a chance that the USB/Firewire/sound ports on top of the case could be bad? If there is, then ill have to wait till I get the stuff in and test it out before I cut out the grills. It's just a big pain in the butt to take everything back out to cut out the grills!

Well I reckon it's easier for the motherboard to have malfuctioning front panels than case itself.
The reason I say this is because if you look at it, it is just a very simple PCB, nothing else.... Why don't you take your case to a friends house and try out the front panel with his board...? I you are lucky enough, You won't need to take his rig apart....

My P160 ports worked fine when I hooked them up. I suppose they could be bad but it would be rather unlikely.
BTW depending on which board you use you might have to extend a wire or two from the front panel. I had to extend my 1394 wire to reach my A7N8X port. Kind of a good thing anyways as the front panel connector does not use a standard connector, just 8 individual ones.

I know I know. I just got my dremel working and I'm like a kid with a new toy 😱

I might just try hooking up the wires to my current MB in my current machine. I suppose that should be a good enough test.

Dremeling isnt as easy as one would think. You can go through a lot of circle sanders cause the aluminum melts and bonds onto them rendering them useless. I ended up drilling through the individual metal supports and then sanding the broken edges down...
