Question for the Car Gods

I just got my oil changed today. As soon as I left the place, i noticed that my car would shake slightly when I was waiting at a stop light. A little while later, I actually felt it rocking back and forth. When I let go of the break at the stop light, my car did a semi-intense jitter before I stepped on the gas to go. This freaked me out, so I drove my ass all the way back to the place I got the oil changed. Right before I got there, I didn't have any of those problems (of course). The dude had no idea what was wrong. He added a little bit more oil and told me to come back if I had more problems later on. Of course, a few miles after I leave, I start experiencing the same crap. By the time I got home everything seemed fine. One other note: i don't get a burst of power when I step on the gas, but it might just be me. I'm going to test my car out a little later. Any insight would be greatly appreciated...thanks for reading this long post.

check your air filter, also your oil cap.

I had a shop leave the oil cap off and the car acted kinda like that, only the oil splashed out of the fill hole and started smoking when it was on the engine block.

Also have your fuel filter been replaced?

look for black hoses, make sure they are connected at both ends, if not, look for a spot that looks like it will fit.

Open your hood with your car running and listen for a hissing sound. If you find a hose that is loose or off, look for a nipple around the area and stick it back on.

oh, oh,oh. Also(this will require getting under the car) make sure the oil filter and plug aren't leaking. many times i've heard about them not putting the filters on correctly or not putting the plug back in.

It's cheaper for places like Jiffy Lube to pay non certified people and pay for an engine replacement every once in a while, than it is to pay a certified, compitent tech. That's why I'm gonna do all my own oil changes from now on.

I used to do my own oil changes but it got to be a pain to get rid of the oil. Now I go to the Chevy dealer where I get an oil change and a car wash for about $25. Plus the oil change is entered in the vehicles records and shows that I have followed the maintenace schedule should a warranty problem ever arise.

Could it possibly be the fuel injectors? I noticed that I don't get as much of a jump when I floor the car.

If all you did was have the oil changed, I don't see what they could have done to cause it. Get it diagnosed before you start accusing the oil change place.

Good call, that makes sense. A vacuum leak will give you a rough idle, but you won't notice much at all when the car is under way.

That could also be the result of a vacuum leak. Injector failure will trigger the check engine light.

Does your check engine light come on? I took my car to a dealer to have it diagnosed for an airbag problem. After I got out of there, my car would start shaking a bit, especially when I was stopped at a light. Turns out that one of the ignition wires had gone bad and it was misfiring. It was completely coincidental. Not saying that is the case with yours, but its possible.

My 'check engine' light does not come on. I took it for a test drive earlier and everything seemed to be working fine. I have no idea what went wrong earlier today...and I'm really curious to find out what it was.

I got an oil change and the people there knocked off a line leading to a sensor for the air cleaner. My check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer though, not back to the oil place.
