Name your favorite drink for when you take on a rugged curry (or some other dish that fights back).

Does anything out there beat a thai iced tea or mango lassi?

I don't usually drink anything with dinner, regardless of how hot I make the food, and I make some blazing curries. If you're trying to cut the heat most liquids don't help much, since the effective ingredient is an oily substance.

i like water; but if you are burning, a mango lassi or any other milk or protein based drink, such as a milkshake, will take away the heat.

Milk helps a bit, that is what I use. Anything alcoholic helps cut the oil too, but not as good as milk diluting it.

I like water with dinner. But if it's something damn hot I'll drink milk or eat bread. In a restaurant I'd use something that can absorb the heat from your tongue.

A dairy product such as something with milk or yogurt is supposed to be the best to fight the heat. An acidic product, such as beer, is a bit like pouring alcohol on a wound imo. That said, if someone doesn't like the heat, its empty to brag about eating fire when one is consuming a fire extinguisher at the same time.
