Question for Starcraft 2 players

One of my great memories of Starcraft was to basically "siege" up against enemy AI. What I mean is that I would have a map where my local base would have about 3x the resources of the other bases on the map. I'd start a game at this base and play on the map against the AI...usually a couple of zerg AI's who are allies. And basically I would just sit back and withhold wave after wave of them.

Is that type of gameplay still possible in Starcraft 2?

Yeah it's a lazy way to play but a fun way to kill an hour.

You would probably enjoy Left 2 Die. Otherwise, there are thousands of custom maps - I'm sure you could find something else similar (or create your own map).

You'd also love the last mission of the protoss part of the campaign. You pretty much get a an onslough of zerg pushing at you from all directions and have to survive as long as you can.

And as previously mentioned, the last mission too and a lot of custom maps should be there.

Yeah, you can play 2v2 or 3v3 vs ai and just set up a impenetrable defense against insane ai and wait for them to mine the map out before moving out. I've won a few really long games with friends this way when we are feeling like a long lazy game. Usually takes a few tries to defend the first rush or two before you get situated and then it just comes down to not wasting your limited resources and being patient.

Twilight fortress is the best map for 2v2 to do this on.

Siege tanks and planetary fortress are key

Gameplay like you want is still possible, probably best achieved in custom maps.

I'll try out Left 2 Die. Sounds like fun.

Haha.... I don't have SC2 but I remember doing a lot of those in SC1.
I would do 1 vs 7 allied zergs on hard with unlimited resources and see how long I can hold out. It was like build-your-own tower defense (Starship Trooper style.) Crazy fun.

If you could hold out against 7 you were a better player than me ;)

Thanks for the replies guys. I will get this game I think (after I finish Witcher 2)

You this reminds of a custom map I played but don't recall the name. 4 Players started in a raised area with a lower area with lava. You get time to build up and then the lava recedes and zerg come up one of the 4 ramps. As the game goes on the waves get harder and they come through more ramps. I just played it once. After about 45 mins one guy dropped and the 2nd dropped after the hour mark. Me and the other guy held out for about another 1/2 hour or so. There were way too many waves, they should try to keep the games to an hour.

I'm pretty sure that's zombie defense. There are three maps and after a dozen or so waves it starts throwing curve balls at you like reduced sight to 1, or random baneling drops that wreck havok on your buildings and such
