It's a simple question and input from anybody is welcome. The reason I said Asian Indians is that I am Indian and majority of software professionals are Indian too.

I got my undergrad in Comp. Sci. recently. I did my internships in couple big companies when the economy was good as a IT person but I hated the whole concept of IT person. So I quit that job and accpeted a software. Eng. internship at a start-up. After graduation they offered me full-time and I accepted since economy was in the gutter but then.

Any way even though this company is stable I feel like my job is not glorious at all and get the urge of working for a bigger company. I don't know if working at a bigger company would change anything but when I see some of my 'not so smart' friends working for IBM i feel left out. Is this feeling normal...Any feedback ??

help me psycholanalyze myself:confused

Working at a large company isn't particularly glamorous either. You may get better benefits (that's becoming an increasingly iffy assertion), but it's easy to get compartmentalized when you're one piece of a very large development shop (although this is probably changing as more and more large firms cut back on staff to trim expenses, which means that the folks left behind will have to shoulder more, and presumably varying responsibilities) or as a part of an organization which needs to coordinate and interact with one or more other organizations to fulfill whatever strategies the corporation has laid out (and it's usually not that straightforward).

The real question is whether a firm like IBM is a) hiring at all but mainly b) for a position that you think will give you professional challenge and opportunities for career and technological growth. Think about the sorts of technologies you like working with, then see if they have any openings which allow you to pursue them.
