Question for Shuttle SK22G2B owners - video card power?

I noticed on the newegg reviews, some people are successfully running GeForce 7600GT cards on this thing, even though the card requires about 350W power supply, when the Shuttle system has only a 240W power supply. How is this possible?

Those Shuttle power supplies are generally good quality stuff and the wattage rating is probably somewhat conservative (as compared to some ultra cheap PSs that are marketed as 400+W). I used to run a 9800Pro in a Shuttle box with a 200W PS and didn't have any problems. I'd also guess that you'd have to assess what other components you're running in the box. If you've got 2 RAID-ed 10000RPM drives, with DVD burner, 4GB of RAM and something in a PCI/PCIeX1 slot drawing power already, you're more likely to have power issues if you add a 7600GT.

I've got 1GB RAM (2 sticks of 512), one SATA drive, and one DVD-ROM..that's it. So do you think a 7600GT would be okay in there? It's probably hard to know until I actually try it.

You might want to poke around here a bit. From what I can see, there seems to be a few people running 7600GS cards in their systems and at least one running a 7600GT, so it looks like your chances might be pretty good.

EDIT: Someone in this thread even recommends a 7950, which seems a bit much but hey, who knows?

I just finished a build with X1600 and a X2 4000+ in it, runs like a champ, take it no OC but still runs great with 1gb ram running Vista Home Prem..
