Question for SF Bay Area residents

I've had a number of people tell me that it is illegal to operate a wave runner or jet ski in the San Francisco bay because they give off a lot of pollution. Originally I dismissed this but with all of San Francisco's wacky laws it is not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

So, for anyone who lives here, is it legal to operate a wave runner in the SF bay? And, are there places in the bay area where you can rent a wave runner and go out on the bay?

Yes but they are not allowed to have motors that burn any sort of fossil fuel, and you also have to rent one for a bum. Who do you think you are getting to ride a jet ski just because you have done something with your life? You need to help the poor.

I've never seen people jet ski in the bay and I've lived here for more than 20 years. You know there are sharks in the water right? And the water temperature is pretty damn cold. I do see a lot of people surfing and wind surfing at ocean beach though. Crazy hippies.

Go up to Berryessa, Sonoma or Clear Lake. Warmer days, smoother waters, and all of them have rental places.

I've used a jet ski thingy in the bay. It was a while ago though. Looks like more restrictions are in place now.

There are no dangerous sharks in the bay. You have the occasional 7gill/6gill shark and bunch of dogfish/smoothhound/leopard sharks but nothing that wouldn't scurry away at 100mph that saw a human.
Water is cold though.
