This has been driving me nuts.
While I don't expect holographic quality from my Comcast digital cable (I've noted that dish owners get better non-high def picture quality), why the frak does the Sci-Fi channel look like a poorly compressed MPG file while my other 150channels don't?
Also, the main programs on Sci-Fi channel require my volume to be turned up 15db just to hear dialogue, but commercial run louder than other channels, which is highly annoying. I've been over to friends and watched the same shows only to note the same problem with Sci-Fi channel. Comcast says it's not their problem. Some of my buddies who are big Stargate fans are so disgusted with the problem they no longer watch Sci-Fi at all, but wait for Seasonal DVDs to be released because they are so much better in quality.
Is Sci-Fi renting a transponder off a 20yr old Russian Satellite to save power or something?
