Has anyone hooked up external periphials to the firewire??

does it perform like any other card, does it perform less..

i just want to make sure..

I had a friend hook his external firewire HD up when I had an Audigy and it worked exactly like an add-in fire wire card dose, I dont even think Windows knows its part of the sound card as far as I could tell. As far as performance goes, it was no slower than an HD hooked up to a ata/100 IDE controller, cant really comment on performance in any other way though.
 
creative says that if the external device is going to draw it's power from the port then the max wattage shouldn't exceed 2W!
