I just recently downloaded a new set of drivers for my video card that works much better with my TV. So now I'm thinking of working on trying to watch my DVDs upcoverted to a HiDef resolution.

How much better is the video quality for an upconverted DVD?

Can I do upconversions and video processing with free software? (A lot of people seem to like FDDShow but is there a free video processor out there that works just as good?)

very, very good

-edit- but it really depends on your display. If it is a digital display the results can be excellent. For a analog display (crt) the difference is minimal.

you could give it a shot, but for that size and given its analog probably very minimal difference. never know till you try though.
