I've used Pc-cillin for my antivirus since Pc-cillin II. I saw that they have a new version with a bunch of new bells and whistles, including a firewall. I haven't seen any serious reviews of the new version online though. I was wondering if anyone had started using this version and what they thought of it. I'm intrigued but want to wait to start using it until I can find out more about it. Thanks in advance. :)

I have been using 2000 for the past year and thought that was a great antivirus lots of frequent updates and doesn't monkey with the OS. When i saw your post I went and grabbed the eval and checked it out looks pretty much like the 2000 version but with the software firewall that you mentioned. looks like you get another year of updates and a basic software firewall with the ability to let you designate trusted sites and to block individual ports. What it looks like they are doing with the port blocking is in addition to you being able to block any port you choose they are blocking all the ports used by a list of common trojans like back orifice. Looks like they will be able to update the blocked port list with definition updates which is pretty cool they can have that auto update feature do that as soon as they have identified a new threat going around the net no muss no fuss. you can still unblock any of the ports that they block by default. In a nutshell it looks like you are getting the same good antivirus app plus another year definition and scan engine updates and a simple easy to use built in software firewall. If you are a previously registered owner of pccillin the upgrade is basically 20 bucks. I went ahead and purchased the upgrade since my current license was getting ready to expire anyhow. anyway still poking it a bit if i come up with anything else i will post back her again for ya.

I really appreciate you going through all that trouble to answer my post. I wasn't expecting people to go out and download it, but I thought a couple of people might have already done it. Thanks again for doing all that though, it does give me a better idea about it.
