If you've just had a baby and you're going to receive a gift card, would you rather it be from Babies R Us or Target? From what I've seen, it seems Target is cheaper of the two but Babies R Us has the babies theme going for it.

Amazon is the cheapest place for diapers and formula.

Babies R Us is good for the one time things like nursery furniture, car seats, play pens, swings, strollers, etc.

I'd prefer target, unless you need some specific baby hardware. Otherwise for the day in and out stuff (diapers, food etc) it's cheaper at Target.

Pretty much this.

Garage sales and craigslist are a great places for baby furniture too.

Both are quite useful. Target for most items as others have said. However, there are some items where Babies R Us has a great selection.

Like others have implied, it really depends on what you/the parents need to buy. Babies R Us would have a better selection with a wider range of items for whatever quality / feature level since it's a specialty store, but Target would probably have some adequate basic items, like car seats / regular strollers.
