Question for owners of Vans sneakers

I just bought my first pair of Vans yesterday, but the arches on the inside of the shoes are killing my feet (I do have wider than average feet). Is this normal for a new pair of Vans...do they have to be broken in or do are they usually perfect right out of the box. The reason I ask is that some shoes/sneakers like Dr. Martens have a reputation for needing to be broken in and I was just wondering if Vans are the same way. I really hope this is the case because I really like these shoes!

Vans and Airwalks are 11ty billion times more comfortable after they're broken in. Just give them a while to loosen up. Pretty soon they'll look crappy and ragged but you'll still wear them because at that point they're extremely comfortable. 😉

Most shoes need to be broken in.
Mabey you need to get a wide version of the shoe.

Did they eventually break in or did you have to get different shoes?

LMAO

I have found that Vans don't generally have much of a break in period. They come pretty wide and flat normally. They are VERY comfortable shoes, but I added some insoles to mine just for some extra arch support. I would expect a short break in period and then then your shoes should be quite comfortable.

I know what exactly what you're talking about.

I bought a new pair of vans (first in a LONG while) because I wanted something fairly simple looking. Nike, Skechers, etc. seem to want to add as much strange designs they can on their shoes nowadays.

Anyways, the shoe is so flat that it begins hurting my feet. Absolutley no arch support. While they dont kill my feet, they aren't comfortable at all. It's been about a month at least, and it hasn't changed.
