LOL ^ what? Let the free market decide whether or not your house burns down?

Silly strawman argument that keeps popping up. Fiscal conservatives realize that there are things the government needs to do that the private sector is unable to do. Calling for a downsize in spending does not mean abolishing the Federal government.

Manage interstate systems so that the private contractors building a road in Tennessee construct to the same standards as a private contractor in California. Manage Air Traffic control because you really can't have controllers going on strike, and yes, fireman.

I am not going to spend the time to write another 20 paragraphs explaining the areas that the government overreaches and overspends on. People don't want to believe that because they believe to have a healthy economy that the government needs to take money from the economy to spend as it sees fit.

All i can say is if i had 500 million dollars and you wanted to take half in taxes. I wouldnt care. Why? Because im still fucking rich at 250 million dollars :) Plus its most likely these "poor" people on the bottom that got me where im at by buying some product or service im offering. So me giving back to the people that made me doesnt bother me. Im more then willing to pay 50% in taxes if need be.

Now i only make 60k a year, but ill take the 50% taxes and 250 million a year and not complain vs. where im at now. So i will gladly take on that tax burdon so the rest of you dont have to :p

So. Someone living under a bridge would say they would take that 60k/year taxed at 50% and not complain.

It's easy to give up what you don't have and aren't willing to work for.

I get it. You believe the rich should keep more of what they make. You beleive that the the rest of us should pay more in taxes. You believe that things like higher education should not be government subsidized. You believe that the government should not mandate safe drugs, cars, products, etc.

So, my question is if we institute your ideas and the middle class shrinks to a tiny level, if a large majority of Americans can no longer afford higher education, a house, health care, etc. Will that be good for America? And what will America be like?

LOL, and I guess you believe we should be able to kill our kids whenever we want (post-abortion), burn down all the churches (except mosques of course), execute the Boy Scouts (heck, if you can boo them at your convention in Philly is it that big of a stretch), bring back the ovens for the Jews, nationalize all industries, make George Soros Secretary of the Politburo, and EAT THE RICH!

Yup, it's true because I read it on the internet.

Not sure if serious. You started a thread with quite a few strawmen, then proceeded to assert your own conclusions which do not even necessarily follow from your faulty premises. Maybe you should stay away from the computer until after the election. For your own sake.

Stop focusing in on only one tax, look at the overall taxes that people pay. Other than the very poor, which still pay a good percentage in taxes. The middle class on up to the very rich all pay about the same tax rates. With the top paying slightly less.

Federally the poor pay at most SS, which is essentially a government mandated retirement plan.

Not to mention that normally when people say the poor pay taxes they are counted taxes that other people are paying.

True, but that's not a good argument because a lot of people who pay the most as percentage of their income into SS never receive it because they die earlier... that is, black people don't usually live as long as white people. In addition to that, SS (for retirement) doesn't help a damn soul because of inflation which is created by govt fiat.

Also, men do not live as long as women. Although you would also have to take into account the lower income people receive a higher benefit than they pay in. Which would make the black people issue you mentioned smaller, and the man issue bigger.

Last i looked 250million was concidered very very wealthy.

Yes it is, but according to a lot of the Liberals on this website unless you are doing something with that $250 Million to benefit the community they want to come take that from you too. You are not allowed to keep it in a bank or savings bonds as that is hoarding cash.

I don't think that is true. Most liberals would be happy in this scenario if i had paid 50% in taxes instead of putting it in some offshore account or only paid 13.9% on it.

And i would also be ok having paid the 50% since i have $250million remaining. We routinely hear that anything past 75k is gravy, id be swimming in gravy for life and then some at 250mil :)
