Question for Klipsch owners...

I recently picked up 2 sets of the 2.1 Klipsch ProMedia Speaker sets and have some questions:

1. I am currently using a Creative Soundblaster Live! card; I've read the readme sticky that recommends the TBSC but are there any issues w/ this card and these speakers?

2. Would it be of any significant benefit to upgrade the speaker cables that Klipsch supplies? I was thinking of making my own cables using 18AWG using the mod here: Text

3. I am primarily going to use these speakers for music and a few games. Would I be better off with a 2.1 setup or should I keep the 23 sets for a 4.2 setup?

TIA

1. there are more issues with the Live! and OS software than with the card and particular speakers.

2. don't know, haven't tried. do you have a nice home theater system? if not, you probably will be suprised with teh quality of Klipsch even with the stock wires.

3. bigger is always better lol! why not try it both ways for a bit to see what you need?

thanks for the reply...

1. if that's the case, what sound card would you recommend? perhaps the Cruz? I am currently running the SB Live in my AMD box w/ Boston Acoustics BA4800 speakers w/ no problems.

2. I have a modest home theatre system w/ a Pioneer VSX-D509S receiver hooked up w/ Infinity RS-4 Towers. It's definitely not high end but it sounds pretty good to me.

3. Yeah, that's what I am going to do; I was hoping to hear from feedback from people that already have this setup.

The TBSC is great, i have the 4.1's and sounds great....

ohh yea the SC is great because you can have your headphones plugged in to the sound card along with the speakers at the same time, i liked that option..

I have a SB Live X-Gamer with the Klipsch 2.1. I have no problems with this setup. No static, crackling, and pops.
I also currently have the option for a 4.2 system but not the room to do it in. I did have it tested out once and the bass was good. The 4.2 would come in nicely for gaming sounds but the music I'm not sure of.

1. I'm running the 4.1s with a SB Live and have no problems.

2. Dunno... the lamp cord supplied isn't very good, but these aren't the best speakers in the world.
