Question for KDS 195tf Owners ...

Now that I have my Sony G400 shipping fiascos resolved, I am looking for my replacement. What I would like to know from owners is how well designed is their carton packaging ? Did it hold up under shipment? Is it merely a piece of foam at the four corners of the box/monitor, or is it more significant? I tried calling KDS, on hold for over an hour, got a rep but they couldn't tell me anything.

TIA ...

KDS monitors are packaged in 3 bits of foam; one large piece at the bottom and 2 strips that go from the front to the back of the monitor. These two are on the left and right sides at the top.

Because I already have an Iiyama on one system LXi. 😉

Actually it's because I think the Trinitron CRT is just a bit better than the Mitsubishi CRT. I can tell the difference between the 0.24 pitch of the 'Trin vs. the 0.25-0.27 of the 'Mit.

Note that only some manufacturers are making the stripe pitch 0.25-0.27mm, like the lowly ViewSonic, Acer and probably even NEC/Mitsubishi themselves. Samsung and Iiyama fine tuned the pitch to 0.25mm across the screen, dont know if they're lying or not but there is a reason why they advertise 0.25mm instead of 0.25-0.27mm.

They are all .25-.27. Here is an excerpt from a customer post at Onvia.com

"This monitor is using a Diamondtron CRT that actually has a variable stripe-pitch of 0.25mm-0.27mm. It is .25mm center, .27mm edges. This info comes directly from Samsung. Quote from the message: "The tube manufacturer told us '.25' and that is what we put in our specs, but in actuality, it is .25 -.27. You are absolutely correct.""

Stupid fools, Samsung is the king of mislead. 0.20mm horizontal dot pitch, yea? Its actually 0.23-0.24mm diagonal dot pitch. Now they advertise a tube thats actually 0.25-27 as 0.25. Let me dig for more of these type of things.
