How do I make my new computer the "home" for my Ipod?

My Ipod is associated with my old PC, do I just transfer all the songs off with Ipod agent and wipe it?

Or is there an easier way?

Wow, I wish there was a Software forum for questions like this. Or a hardware forum even.

you can assosiate your ipod with more than one computer.... my g/f's and brothers iPod regularly grab songs from both my desktop and laptop, and thier personal computers with no problems.

just transfer all your music from your old computer to your new one via CD or LAN and install iTunes on your new computer and you should be set.

I tried that with two different PCs. It wiped out the songs before I could use it on the other one.

Does iTunes handle a distributed library?

i'm not sure what you mean by iTunes handling an distributed library. I just set up the iPod for manual playlist control within iTunes.- so i can grab whatever select songs i want from any computer. (no two computers have the same set of songs on it)

as far as transferring music from one computer to another --- 100mb LAN connnection is probably the best way. just set up a quick shared directory and copy them all.

the key is to make sure you have the option for 'manual playlist control' (or similar-- forget exact wording) selected under the ipod tab in the preferences menu. This will allow you to pick and choose whatever songs you want to copy, and allow you to erase select songs as well.
