While I was recently at the local Guitar Center, (i know), I had a chance to spend some quality time with a '52 RI Telecaster. Oh baby was that a sweet axe. They were asking $1250 for it I think. Anyone have any experience with these? How low can I get that price lowered to? I can never seem to make any headway with salesman. Thanks.

I have this exact guitar in Butterscotch blonde, and that guitar is sweeettttt. Although, I didn't really like the tinted neck, fetlt very sticky, so I sanded it down to pretty much bare wood. I got it used, though, for about $650. I think that's the way you should go, you could easily find used one in good condition on ebay or harmony central classified for around that much.

well first, i'd comparison shop online. second, i think the markup on music equipment is something like 25%. i'm not familiar with that particular guitar, though.

how did you manage to get one for $650? The original 52 tele is known as one of the rawest sounding guitars out there, it is a favorite of many. A 52 reissue tele is a sweet guitar. The lowest i have seen teh guitar for was around $900, but it is very hard to find it at that price. Last I saw, Guitar Center sold it for $1,600. I guess that is the 1250 price is decent for guitar center. I never knew you coud talk down prices at guitar center though.

I got it used for $650 through a local classified. I always talk down prices at GC, and they will listen to you if they know that you are interested. If they don't, just walk away. And if you do get the guitar there, don't forget to get all the freebies (maintenance kit, extra sets of strings, picks, straps, etc) Good Luck.

you can get it lowered if you buy more stuff, like if you have a friend who also wants a guitar, you can get the overall price of both reduced a bit
