Question for GeForce (specifically ELSA) users

I have an ELSA Geforce card in my computer. The 2d Windows performance (under Win98, WinME, Win2K, and WinNT) is absolutely horrid. I get very noticible diagonal refresh lines that run through the screen continually. I don't notice this in 3d games just in the 2d environment. I would suspect my monitor but I had no such problems with my TNT card or the Voodoo3 3000 I ran for a while. I was curious if anyone else is seeing similar things? I suspect it is specific to the ELSA card but I can't be too sure.

1. No overclocking.
2. As I said I had no such problems with my TNT or Voodoo3 3000 though with the GeForce card I have had the same problem on both a Abit BH6 MB with a P2-450 and my new Asus A7V with Thunderbird-900.
3. I've tried the last three versions of the GeForce detonator reference drivers.
4. Panasonic S70.

I've read reports of TRINITRON tube type monitors having this problem with not just GeForce video cards, but others as well.

Yes I tried to change the refresh rate. Win9x only lets you change it to "Optimal" or "Defualt" no change with either. WinNT/2K lets you adjust it through a whole range of different options but even at 85 hz the problem persists. I have a hard time believing it is the monitor since two other graphics cards I've used didn't do this but who knows. Thanks for the suggestions though everone.

I had slight jumping in my monitor. Almost like the letters where barely bouncing. It did it in Linux too. But when i changed my monitor to 640 by 480 at 160hz it was as stable as can be. So i tried at 1280*1024 at 85 but i still could notice the jumps, i then changed to 1152*864 at 100 hz and the monitor is fine. I dont know what was, but for some reason it just look like the letters where barley moving. I changed cards also and the problem was not there. But i like my geforce so i switched back and kept it at 1152 * 864 at 100 hz.

Also i dont know if win98 has it but winme allows the user to change the refresh rate to what ever is able. I cant remember if it was a box you had to check or what.

Did you try changing monitor timing setting under Display Properties/GeForce256/Additional Properties/Other Options from Auto Detect into General Timing Formula (GTF) or Discrete Monitor Timing (DMT)? Only guessing, but if it is a monitor timing related issue, this setting could have an effect on the 2D image quality.

Seeing that TNT and V3 worked well, this could even be a faulty card though.
