What do people who do not believe in God (or Gods, depending on religion) have against those who DO believe?

I admit there are fanatics in everything (religious folks and atheists alike) but believing in God(s) is not a crime.

I do admit that there are churches out there which might not necessarily see eye to eye with you or I, but do remember that having faith doesn't necessarily mean you agree with everything the church you belong to preaches.

In fact, I disagree with quite a few priests concerning certain things. Does that make me believe less in God? No.
 
I find those who smugly consider those who have different beliefs to themselves to be inferior entirely tragic.

It makes them feel important.

I question the existence of God, myself, but I don't condone those people who believe. Hell, if I did that I would have had a much smaller pool of woman to marry.

Thinking of even the possibility that hell might exist and waiting upon death is discomforting?

In my opinion, Hell is a place where you are without the presense of God.

In fact, one of my friends who is a theologian says he doesn't believe in hell or the devil.

Take that for what's it's worth.

PS: I also believe there is more fiction in the bible then actual fact. They are called parabols.

I would LOVE to take a class which helped me understand which parts are fact or fiction. Sadly, the only thing I know for sure is that Jesus died on the cross and resurrected from the dead three days later to open the gates of heaven. This is the foundation of what the catholic faith is based on.
 
Personally I feel the same about atheists as I do about "belivers". The problem to me is, they've both pretty much stopped questioning. Whether you are a believer or an atheist, either way you've stopped the exploration process. Your mind is already made up, and to me (see sig) that is very weak minded.
 
i don't hold anything against people that believe. that is until they start forcing their views on me. i tried catholicism but i was a terrible catholic so i gave up.

when other people try to force their holier than thou attitude on me i try to tell them the STFU quickly as possible. people need to understand that not everyone have the same views and that we all have differences.

Do you mean condemn instead of condone? It sorta changes the meaning of your whole post.
