I am looking for a very basic case that fits the V2000 well. Since it is a 14" widescreen, it is a little odd.

I was wondering what you use for your V2000 or similar notebook.

I have a HP dv1000 - it is the same chassis. I had a nifty little sleeve made locally. It is neoprene rubber with a fabric coat. The same stuff diver's wet suits are made of. A simple flap and velcro closure. I then slip this into my brief case. I call it my "lapskin."

I have a V2710US, same build 14" widescreen. I've found maybe 2 sleeves but they haven't been particular snug fits so I decided against them.
I found one by Sundex, but it's more of a laptop carrier bag with handles and the "space" styrofoam. The compartment is said to be only 12.75" but I got it to fit with my 14".
Another one is this $24.99 case that they sell at our student store, neoprene and sleeve style; however I didn't purchase it since it felt a little bigger than my laptop.

Edit: I might be trying out the laptop pouch by Tumi, at $80 it's a little bit expensive but it's made of ballistic nylon and seems tougher and more durable than the cheaper models. If I got one I'll write back.

thanks for the replies.

I will keep searching. I have a laptop backpack that works well, but I was looking for something smaller just to protect the laptop.

Ok, no flames here but I went down to the Tumi store today and got this:

Tumi laptop sleeve style # 26182

It's a little expensive at $80 but it fits the V2710US with a 6-cell battery just fine. One small quirk is that it's a bit loose but the dimensions are just great. A quick note though: the Tumi website has the wrong dimensions, as the actual dimension, from the product tag in store, is
14.5" by 9.5" by 2". Since my laptop is only 1.30" thick due to the 6-cell battery, it feels a little "loose" but should still protect the laptop well enough.

Overall, I'm happy :)
It's an expensive piece of accessory but sometimes it's worth the extra sawbuck or two for quality craftsmanship.

whoa, that Tumi is expensive. Looks reallyl nice though.

I was about to buy the shiza "zero shock" but they are oos on the black ones. I used to have a grey one and it looks really boring.

Those Booq Viper's are nice. I really like those. I just got the extended battery, that thing is a beast!
