Question for college students..

AFB

Lifer
When was the last time you were required to turn in a handwritten paper(Not typed)? My AP World History teacher has decided to make us write everything by hand because that is how they do it in college and since this is a "college" class, you have to do the same.

True?

I'm no English major, but I've never turned in a paper hand written. Small assignments yes, but never a paper. In fact I don't even print out half my papers, we just turn them in on the online course management system.

Way too many high school teachers get away with incompetence. And people wonder why they don't get paid more...

I never had to turn in a paper. There were exams here and there, but thats to be expected. Actually, they were mostly in my engineering classes (go figure).

If you tell that AP world hist teacher he's wrong you'll probably get an F though, heh.

Fvck, I know that. There is no way in hell I would do that, I have ~ a 95 in that class so that would be stupid.

Hey. I go to Penn State too. lol...

It depends, there are some highly anal English Comp/Intro to Lit aka Freshmen English profs who will make you write your papers in class. Outside of that hes flat out wrong.

I haven't been in college long but in my experience, any sort of paper that you do at home gets typed. In-class stuff is the stuff that's generally hand-written.

4 years as an English major and I never had to turn anything in hand-written.

I couldn't even imagine doing it, especially when an average paper was 10-15 pages typed in Times New Roman.

I had some creative writing teachers who encouraged it because they claimed that it helps the creative process, but none of the lit teachers did, and not a single teacher actually forced students to.

i graduated last may 4 year Degree, NEVER and i mean NEVER turned a handwritten assignment, even 1 page quick responses were typed, the only thing that is hand written is stuff you do in class, like writing in throes damn bluebooks for midterms and finals

everything is either printed out or submitted electronically

Your teacher is a tool, you should tell him so.

Ohh sure, I can see it now.

"You know all that stuff about paper being hand writing is BS. Ohh BTW, here is my paper worth a good chunk of my grade"

Yeah, right

Ok, maybe you shouldn't tell him. Conspire with fellow students and convince a stupid one to object.

I have never had to turn in a handwritten paper except for a final.

However, it certainly is good practice for the AP exam where you have to write a rediculous amount in three hours...

well I'm an English major (though it may not well reflect in my writing)
I've NEVER had to turn in a handwritten anything. If it's an inclass thing (which is really rare) then perhaps it's handwritten...

this is like when you were in 2nd grade and they told you EVERYONE made you write in cursive... they lied to me then... they're lying to you now...

I am a Philosophy major, so I have done my share of writing over the last 3 years.

The only thing I hand write are in class essay tests. Everything else has been typed. In fact, most all of my assignments have a requirement stating that they must be typed.
