Question for Cat Experts

I went outside to smoke and I hear a cat purring. It walks down some steps to my patio, and approaches me. I went inside and turned on the light to see a rough looking cat weakly purring and walking slowly around. After I finished my cigarette I went back inside and the thing comes up to my door. With nothing else to do I watch it for a while, and it just looks back and forth moaning weakly. It will occassionaly glance at me but it seems a bit dazed if not out of its mind.

Cats, in my experience, usually do not just walk up to strangers let alone want to come inside their houses. Is it just me or is this thing nuts?

give it some food and water, then turn it in to the animal shelter if you can't/don't want to keep it or give it to someone you know.

I tried to go and feed it but now the damn thing is hiding in a large bush and isn't as friendly as before.

Yeah, sounds like it wants food. If you're nervous about diesaes or something, don't pick it up. Sounds like it's hungry tho'

if you leave some nice smelly food by your door, the kitty will definitely get it later.

Just leave some food and water in bowls by your door, maybe an old towel too, and check back in the morning
