Comcast recently set up basic cable TV package for our house (we only had internet before). However, they did not add a splitter in our existing line or add another line into our house.

Do they expect us to add a splitter ourselves (this is the $9.99 cable package, so no cable box)?

How many cable lines do you have coming from your cable box outside?

I should give them a call but I'd like to know what others have first.

In most cases they do expect you to do that yourselves unless you notice it when the installer is there installing. They will usually do it no problem for nothing.

Here in NYC, Time Warner Cable or Cablevision will provide all wiring (including fittings) and splitters if you decide to wire your home yourself. Give your local company a call and see if they can offer you anything.

I was a TWC tech for 5 years (only 2 were spent wiring homes) and I can tell you, it's not that hard to wire up a place.
